Talkto commands

it is good to use a talkto command witch is very useful when talk to a turtle individually and you are unable to click on them to listen while someone else would be playing the game.
ex)
to restart
talkto [t1] fd 20
talkto [t2] bk20
end
-allison g. 6/7DD

to make a circle:
to start
pd repeat 360 [fd 0.1 rt 1]
end
hope it helped...
-Angelica M.

to make a square
to square
pd
repeat 4 [fd 90 rt 90]
-sydni G.

Start Up Procedures

to get a turtle to go to your starting point you might want to try using
to start
setpos [135 -111]
lt 90
end
-Elena C.

to make a small circle you might want to try this
to start
pd repeat 360 [fd 0.1 rt 1]
end
-Kenny Pond-
Everyone should have this startup procedure in their game. This makes the game automatically start in the presentation mode when the file is opened. The procedure MUST BE named startup

to startup
presentationmode
end

You can also add the name of the page that you wish the user to see first. And any other commands you may need to set the game up. Have fun.... Ms. R

Techniques and Hints

Even though u want ur games to have recorded songs on them, that will shut down ur game. So don't record ''Umbrella" and "Buy U A Drink" etc. cuz ur game will not only crash, u'll have to start from scratch. That'll be fun!
Peace out!
-Amanda N.
U can use buttons to control turtles instead of keyboard controls.
DJ

A hint when me and sam worked our project is it is to have a lot buttons because it saves you have to always start commands over and over. You click on the picture with the finger and button. But you have to drag it down and the you write in the command. Then to this command all you have to do is click the bottom with out keep typing all those commands.
-Rashaun B. 6/7A

To get your turtle back to start when it hits another turtle you:
-open the turtle's backpack (press control and click on turtle)
-click on rules at the bottom of the backpack
-go to where it says OnTouching
-type in where you want your turtle to go (position of where start is)
Example: setpos [ -181 -110 ]
- Margot

Whatttt's up, this is Sebastian Here is a tip if you have 150 objects on your page you can not post anything else on your page. Try deleting some turtles you do not use any more.

Turtle's and Backpacks

HI!
Jah'tasha and I found out that when you make a procedure for one of the turtles that makes it eat the other turtles when you want to make the eaten turtles show again you have to write "everyone [st]" and then they all pop up. We also learned that the procedure for eating another turtle is:
to eat
ask touchedturtle [ht]
end
-Lana and Jah'tasha

Daniel W. here, well making a game is easy. all you have to do is make a person create a background and have some sort of obstacle.
Hint: don't stamp your background!

If you want to make a good game start with a smart storyline and develop from there.

Hey this is maria while i was making my game i found a way for the turtles to bounce off walls like if you doing a maze and you want the turtles to bump into the walls instead of going through them this is the procedure.
To bounce
bk 20
seth random 360
end
So if ya want ya turtles to bounce off walls use my procedure

Hi it is Evan I am making the game pong at school. Game designing is harder then I thought. I have a lot of Questions. My class is making games as well. My friend Medina is creating a game called guess and check it is a lot fun. Other friends of mine are making mazes. Our games will be posted soon. By Evan D.

My name is nick!! hi wiki people =]!!!!here is some advice:
make sure your turtle IS NOT using the key of the key board and that
T stamped to the background (Unless you want it that way (For example if you don't want it to move))...To open the turtles backpack you press control then click on the turtle...you can also change the turtle into the clip art (VERY COOL!!! =])...microworlds is a very complicated application, but with the sheets that Ms. Rudzitis gives you, anything is possible. Microworlds RoCk$!!!!!
-Nick (˜ˆç˚ ´¬ˆßç¨ $#!*)

Hey its me maria again and if this time you want to make a single button that makes your turtle move
using the keys of the key board then this is the procedure that you will need.
To go
forever [steer]
click on
end

yo wat up, its u'r boy Arif wit some microworlds tips, check em out: you can do stopall or stop1, when u want u'r turtle 2 stop after hitting a certain color, u just gotta edit the color by pressin' control click, and type in stopall or stop1, its u'r choice
-Arif H.

My name is Matthew S from 6/7DD...this project was really cool because you can learn how to make a game. also it shows that in order to make a game, it takes a lot of practice and a lot of resources. the resources that i used were the papers in the fron of the room. they show different commads that you can use to make your game. this project was cool

Designing Turtle Shapes

(use the shapes tab to edit shapes or paste in new shapes)

If you want to change the shape of your turtle to something else, and get a picture from the internet instead. First find the picture that you want. Then click on the object and find the full size of the picture. Then copy the picture(apple c). Next, go to where you have all of your procedures, in microworlds. And on the bottom of your procedures, you will find 4 different flaps(pages) Click on the one that has the one with a ladybug. You should fing a grid. Click on one of the grid boxes. Then paste(apple v) the object. If you double click you can design, and change the picture. Then push the button 0K. Then drag the object onto the turtle.
~Zoe

Here is something that is going to help you move pictures from the internet to Microworlds. So for ex if you want a background you can go to the background, copy it and then past it in photoshop. In Photoshop you can change any of the things in the background, then you can just copy and past it to photoshop or you can save it to your documents
-- Jake is my name and i don't like it!!!!

To change shape of turtle
1.Click on the PAINT BRUSH icon at top of micro worlds browser then click on either the flower or people button on top of the newly opened page.
2. after you have chosen the picture you want, Click it and then SHIFT + click the pictures right next to it to activate them in that sequence.
3. click your turtle and it should change into your first image. click it again and it should activate your sequence.

-Farhan K

Collision detection

You open the turtles backpack. You go to the rules section. You look for where it says OnTouching.
You type in the command you want your turtle to do when it touches another one. If you want you
can also write in melody1 and the first melody you made will play when your turtle touches another
one. If you "control click" on the melody box you can make sure when your turtle touches another
one they hear the melody but can't see any sign of it on your game (melody box invisible).
-Margot H.

Bouncing turtles off a wall

  • use a color and paint a maze, making the walls at least as thick as the turtle shape.
  • make sure there is enough white space between the walls so the turles can move through the maze.
  • Control-click anywhere on the colored walls of the maze.
  • In the instruction field next to Turtle, type bounce
  • Leave the mode to Once and click OK
  • Create a bounce procedure in the project's Procedures Tab
to bounce

end

Using Sliders

You can use sliders so that the players can change settings.

In my game, it is incomplete so you can pick the super awesome random attack and continue playing there on until you lose and can't move on.

-Nathaniel

Hi, have you been annoyed when you want a specific turtle to move. Well if you have then use the ask command.
EX: ask [t1] [fd 20 rt 89]
-Luis B.

their are plenty of ways to start up and how many degrees you want to go to
it all depends on where you want the turtle for example to go to
there are so many commands
this so the best way to do ll these fashion designs in particular
meghan beehan6/7V

and just to let you now start out with something simple and from there you will move on
HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For any games that need buttons then put the turtle's name, command
